Sorting what comes out of a basement
Basements hold a mix of everything, so we sort as we go. Scrap metal, electronics, refrigerant appliances and mattresses each go to the facilities that handle them, and the rest is taken to licensed City of Toronto disposal and transfer facilities.
Old paint cans, solvents and chemicals are common in basement storage rooms, but they're household hazardous waste and we can't take them. We'll set them aside so you can drop them off at a City of Toronto household hazardous waste depot.
