What happens to an old piano
An upright piano contains a heavy cast-iron plate, steel strings, and a lot of wood. When a piano can't be restored or rehomed, we separate the metal for scrap recycling and keep wood out of general waste where possible. Electric pianos and organs have electronic components and are handled as e-waste.
If you think your piano could still be played, tell us — we'll leave it intact so you have the option to rehome it.
